FAQS

What ground surfaces can the SlackYard be installed in?

The SlackYard is designed for use in grass and compact soil. It is not designed for use in sand, turf, or extremely soft ground types.

For use with softer ground types, extend your ground anchors and add more screws to each side. For use in hard soil and lawns, try wetting the grass first to allow the screws to drive into the ground.

Can I use my own SlackLine?

The SlackYard is designed to work best with the included GIBBON ClassicLine. We do not sell sets without the SlackLine included.

Is the SlackYard suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. In fact, it’s the best way to start. Unlike traditional slacklines that are often high and intimidating, the SlackYard allows you to start just a few inches off the ground. You can set the line very short and tight for maximum stability, then increase the length as your balance improves.

Does the SlackYard come with everything needed for assemby?

All you need is a standard power drill to drive the screws into the soil. The SlackYard is a complete "all-in-one" system. It includes the heavy-duty A-frames, the pro-grade GIBBON webbing, high-tension ratchets, and our proprietary ground-screw anchors.

How big is the SlackYard, and how much does it weigh?

At its maximum extension, the SlackYard spans 30 feet long (9m) and stands 1.5 feet tall (0.5m), providing a full-scale slacklining experience in your own backyard.

One of its best features is its extreme adjustability. If you have a smaller space, you can easily customize the length by installing the anchors closer together and pulling the extra webbing through the ratchet. The entire system is engineered for portability and ease of use, weighing approximately 35 pounds, making it easy to pack up for a trip to the park or store away for the winter.

How long does assembly take?

Initial assembly takes about 15–20 minutes. Once you’ve chosen your spot, driving the ground screws takes only a few minutes with a drill. Because it is weather-resistant, most users set it up once at the start of the season and leave it ready for action all summer long.

I already own a SlackBoard. Is this too advanced for me?

Not at all—it’s your natural "graduation." Think of the SlackBoard as your foundation and the SlackYard as your playground. It offers the same safe, low-height experience you love, but gives you the extra length needed to feel the true "flow" and dynamic movement of slacklining.

Will the ground screws damage my lawn?

Surprisingly, no. Our ground screws are designed to be "low-impact." They function much like an aeration tool; when you decide to move or remove the system, you are left with only a small hole that grass typically recovers from in just a few days. No concrete or digging required.

What is the maximum weight capacity?

The SlackYard is engineered for strength and can safely support a single user weighing up to 400 lbs (181 kg).

How far apart should I put my A-Frame Pedestals?

MINIMUM: We recommend starting with the A-Frames 3 feet (1m) apart. You can easily move them further apart as you feel more comfortable by unscrewing the wooden plate, lowering the A-Frames, and moving them to a new distance. Remember to re-check your anchors and ratchet each time you use the SlackYard.

MAXIMUM: The max distance we recommend with the anchors at their furthest point is 16.5 feet (5m). The A-frames must be installed no further than two A-frame lengths from the slackline anchor points on each side. This ensures the slackline angle remains below 30°, which is the maximum allowed for safe installation. Installing the A-frames further away is not permitted, as it increases the forces acting on the system.
Practical tip (see illustration 9 in the manual):
Starting from where the slackline is attached (ratchet on one side and anchor tip on the other), hold the A-frame upright and let it fall forward. Lift it again and let it fall forward a second time. The distance reached marks the maximum allowed A-frame position (approx. 16ft/5 m of slackline.)

Do you have training videos specific to the SlackYard?

Yes! Check out the GIBBON Balance App for programs that teach you how to walk your first slackline and how to start playing on your slackline.

Is a drill required to install or can I use something else?

In most cases, an electric drill will be needed to secure the ground screws

What is the difference between the SlackYard and SlackRack?

The SlackYard is designed exclusively to be used in grass and soil, while the SlackRack can be moved anywhere. The SlackYard is more adjustable from 3 feet (1m) to 16 feet (5m), while the SlackRack's adjustability is more limited. The SlackYard allows you to progress over grass at a lower height than the SlackRack.
